PEDIATRIC SUBSPECIALTIES

Adolescent Medicine

If your child is between the ages of 10 and 19 years old, he may benefit from the care of an Adolescent Health Specialist. They help teens with their complex physical, behavioral, and emotional health care needs—from physical exams and immunizations to reproductive and mental health care.

Allergy and Clinical Immunology

If your child suffers from allergies or other problems with his immune system, a Pediatric Allergist/Immunologist has special skills to treat your child.

Ambulatory Pediatrics

If your child requires medical care and health supervision on an outpatient basis and has no need for confinement, Ambulatory Pediatricians have the experience to attend to his needs.

Pediatric Cardiology

If your child has a heart condition, whether this was present at birth (congenital heart diseases) or something that occurred recently, a Pediatric Cardiologist has the best training to help your child. Whenever surgery is needed, a Pediatric Cardiologist stands side by side with a cardiac surgeon in providing the care your child needs.

Collagen Vascular and Other Multisystem Disorders

If your child suffers from collagen vascular disorders, a specialist can recommend certain medications to help address these chronic diseases and help manage the symptoms.

Pediatric Dermatologist

If your child has skin conditions, a Pediatric Dermatologist has the experience and qualifications to treat your child.

Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics

Developmental Pediatricians evaluate, counsel and provide treatment for children and adolescents with a wide range of developmental and behavioral difficulties, as well as their families.

Pediatric Endocrinology

If your child has problems with growth, puberty, diabetes, or other disorders related to the hormones and the glands that produce them, a Pediatric Endocrinologist may treat your child.

Pediatric Gastroenterology

If your child has a digestive system, liver, or nutritional problem, a Pediatric Gastroenterologist has the expertise to treat your child.

Genetics

If your child was born with a metabolic and/or genetic disorder such as physical birth differences, slow brain development or malfunctioning body chemistry, a Pediatric Geneticist can help you. A Pediatric Geneticist identifies the causes and natural history of these disorders. Geneticists also play a key role in assisting families in managing the special health care needs of children with genetic disorders.

Pediatric Hematology

If your child or teen has a blood disease or cancer, a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist has the experience and qualifications to evaluate and treat your child or teen.

Infectious Disease

If your child has a recurring or persistent disease caused by an infectious agent or other rare infection, a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist has the experience and qualifications to help your pediatrician diagnose and treat your child.

Pulmonary Diseases

If your child has breathing problems, or a problem with his lungs, a Pediatric Pulmonologist has the experience and qualifications to treat your child.

Pediatric Neonatology

If your newborn is premature, or has a serious illness, a Neonatologist may assist at the time of delivery and in the subsequent care of your newborn.

Pediatric Nephrology

If your child has kidney or urinary tract disease, bladder problems, or high blood pressure, a Pediatric Nephrologist has the special skills and experience to treat your child. A Pediatric Nephrologist also evaluates and treats growth and development problems that are specifically related to chronic kidney disease.

Pediatric Neurology

If your child has problems involving the nervous system (including the brain), a Child Neurologist has the special training and experience to treat your child.

Clinical Toxicology

If your child has taken or is exposed to a substance that may be poisonous, a Pediatric Toxicologist is trained to manage and minimize its effect on your child’s body.

General Pediatrics

For an overall assessment of your child’s health needs, a General Pediatrics consultant can identify the exact area where your child requires medical attention.
