On “12-12-12”, The Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) hosted a celebration to commemorate the last pour or the topping-off of the hospital’s ancillary areas that will house its state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities.

Present during the event were Guam Governor Eddie Baza Calvo; the Board of Directors of The Medical City (TMC), the owner and operator of GRMC, led by Chairman of the Board Dr. Augusto P. Sarmiento and President and CEO Dr. Alfredo R.A. Bengzon; TMC senior management, directors and AVPs, and GRMC officials. The entire TMC Board of Directors flew all the way to Guam to celebrate this special event.

“We are very pleased that our Board of Directors are all here with us today to witness the progress of the project and experience the warm Hafa Adai spirit of the people of Guam,” says Margaret A. Bengzon, GRMC President and CEO and TMC Strategic Services Group head.

A topping-off event is an important accomplishment as far as any construction development is concerned as it signals a milestone achievement that pronounces the completion of structural works with the last beam or structural piece having been concreted into place.

Set to open its doors in 2014 in Dededo, Guam, the GRMC will be operated by TMC, which has been recently reaccredited by the Joint Commission International, the world’s most prestigious accrediting body for health care organizations. GRMC’s services will be aligned with TMC’s centers of excellence and the region’s specific health profile, featuring wellness, cardiology, medical oncology, endocrinology, pulmonology, neurology and other medical and surgical subspecialties. On November 11, 2011, GRMC celebrated its project launch and site blessing.

GRMC is a 130-bed tertiary level hospital that will offer world-class health services tailored to the needs of the island and the rest of the Micronesia Region.
