The Medical City Palliative Care Unit Presents: “Hope Springs Eternal”

In celebration of the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, The Medical City Palliative Care Unit is holding an art exhibit of beautiful Japanese paintings by Mr. Jeffrey Salik from October 8 to 13 at the TMC lobby. The exhibit “Hope Springs Eternal” is being held in honor of the memory of Mr. Salik’s wife, Yoshino Suzuki Salik who died of lung cancer in April 2012.

“Doctors from The Medical City especially the Palliative Care team helped me and my wife go through the most testing times. TMC’s Palliative Care team ensured utmost comfort for her and for the entire family,” says Mr. Salik.

Mr. Salik is a Filipino career diplomat presently assigned as Third Secretary and Vice Consul at the Philippine Embassy in Amman, Jordan. He had lived and worked at various times in Seoul, South Korea and Beirut, Lebanon.

He started painting as a hobby in 2000. The paintings featured in this exhibit were made while he was taking care of his wife during her confinement in a hospital in Japan and at The Medical City. The paintings also feature the calligraphy work of Mr. Salik’s mother-in-law, Kiwako Suzuki.
