Manila, Philippines: In line with Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, The Medical City (TMC) will co-sponsor a free lay forum during the Philippine Society of Colorectal Surgeons’ (PSCRS) first national convention at the Diamond Hotel, Manila. Dubbed “The Truth about Colorectal Cancer,” the forum will be held on March 26 at the Amethyst Room, 2nd floor, from 3-5 PM. Topics encompass the whole spectrum of issues on colorectal cancer care, adhering to TMC’s thrust for both comprehensive health care and education.

“These discussions aim to better inform the public on colorectal cancer, a cause TMC strives to promote every March,” says Dr. Manuel Francisco T. Roxas, President of the PSCRS and Head of TMC’s Section for Colorectal Surgery. “There are a lot of advances, as well as misconceptions, in this area that the public should be made aware of.”

The forum’s topics and speakers are as follows:
  • The Truth about Colorectal Cancer, Screening and Colonoscopy by Dr. Robert L. Chang
  • Patient Partnership and the Multidisciplinary Team Approach to Cancer Treatment by Dr. Florianne F. Valdez
  • The Truth about Chemotherapy by Dr. Beatrice J. Tiangco
  • The Truth about Radiotherapy by Dr. Enrico D. Tangco
  • The Truth about Surgery by Dr. Roxas
  • The Truth about Palliative Care by Dr. Maria Fidelis C. Manalo
  • Support Group Services and Carewell by Mr. Bobbit Suntay.

“TMC seeks to highlight its leadership status in colorectal surgery, particularly in colorectal cancer care and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery,” adds Dr. Roxas of TMC and PSCRS’s partnership.

Moreover, this endeavor between TMC and PSCRS is part of the hospital’s commitment to improving the state of Philippine health care via shared expertise and alliances with like-minded organizations.
