Dr. Alfredo R.A. Bengzon, President and CEO of The Medical City (TMC), has been named 2015 Juran awardee in recognition of his achievements in promoting quality and excellence in his organization and in the health care industry.

The award is given annually by the Philippine Society for Quality (PSQ), Inc. to a senior executive of a company, the academe or labor organization for his significant contribution in the field of quality management in the country. The Juran award honors Dr. Joseph Juran for his worldwide contribution to quality. His idea initially revolutionized the practice of quality and has now become generic to quality practitioners.

Dr. Bengzon is being recognized for his work as head of TMC, an internationally accredited health institution and currently the largest health care network in the country. In its 48 years, TMC has been committed to provide high quality, compassionate health care and promote the strictest standards of safety for both its local and international patients.

TMC recently earned its fourth Joint Commission International’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its internationally-recognized standards. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

TMC was first accredited by JCI, the world’s most prestigious accrediting body for health care organizations, in 2006 and again in 2009 and 2012.

Several programs of TMC have also been recognized by numerous organizations including the prestigious Asian Hospital Management Awards (AHMA).

The 2015 Juran awardee was also the Secretary of Health for six years under the term of President Corazon Aquino and former Vice President for the Professional Schools of the Ateneo de Manila University, dean of the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health and dean emeritus of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Bengzon has received several awards and recognitions in his lifetime. One of them is the prestigious Lux-In-Domino Award - given by the Ateneo de Manila University. He is also a Ramon Magsaysay awardee for government service.

Dr. Bengzon was honored on October 23, 2015 at SMX Aura BGC, Taguig City during the 27th National Quality Forum of the Society.
