TMC'S Guilt-Free Gourmet Series Serves up Liver-Friendly Fare

In its thrust to provide patients with reliable and actionable health information, The Medical City (TMC) hosted the third event in its Guilt-Free Gourmet (GFG) series at the Robinsons Galleria Activity Center in Ortigas. Dubbed “Liverating Cuisine,” the event included cooking demonstrations for delicious liver-friendly fare by Chef Llena Arcenas, as well as discussions and audience Q&As on liver health, facilitated by TMC gastroenterologist and hepatologist Dr. Eternity D. Labio, and TMC nutritionist Ms. Caroline Q. Hernandez. The show was hosted by Dr. Rolando A. Balburias, Consultant Director of TMC’s Center for Wellness and Aesthetics, and celebrity fitness guru Ms. Jackie Lou Blanco.

 

 

“Taking proper care of your liver starts with healthy eating habits,” says Dr. Labio. “We at TMC’s Center for Liver Disease Management and Transplantation, and TMC as a whole, stress the importance of proper nutrition as a means to prevent disease. Liver problems can be avoided if you take responsibility for your body, and the GFG series is an excellent vehicle for sharing such valuable health advice outside of the hospital setting.”

 

In addition to sampling the featured dishes, participants were offered free medical services, including liver screening, blood pressure checks, BMI counseling, and nutritional consultation. Informational material and other promotional items were given to registrants, and special prizes were awarded to early birds and raffle winners.
