On the evening of March 28, 2026, The Medical City participated in Earth Hour, aligning with a worldwide call for environmental action and proving that hospitals can play an active role in protecting the planet.
PASIG CITY — On March 28, 2026, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, The Medical City in Pasig City stood in solidarity with the global Earth Hour movement, demonstrating that even a healthcare institution can take a bold stand for the planet. Led by the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Department, this initiative was made possible through the unified efforts of Security, Facilities Management, and the Environment of Care Department, alongside the active participation of healthcare workers and administrative staff.

During Earth Hour, primary lighting was deactivated across TMC Ortigas—including the lobby, ED, and administrative areas—and replaced with rechargeable lamps and LED units.
This collective action ensured that switching off non-essential lighting—specifically in the Main Foyer, Information Lobby, the Admission and Cashier areas, and various other floors across the hospital—did not compromise the hospital's high standards of safety. To maintain a secure and comfortable environment, the team effectively deployed rechargeable lamps and utilized existing LED safety lighting along hallways, ensuring that all medical operations and patient services continued without interruption.

The foyer and garden lights at TMC Ortigas were also turned off as part of the campaign.
This initiative is a vital component of TMC’s broader commitment to SDG 13 (Climate Action) and serves as a visible milestone in its ambitious journey to reduce institutional greenhouse gas emissions by 56% by 2030. Beyond this symbolic hour, the hospital is actively integrating green policies into its clinical and administrative functions, recognizing that sustainable healthcare is the only path forward for a resilient future. By optimizing energy use and aligning departmental resources toward a common goal, TMC proves that the health of our patients and the health of our environment are one and the same. Through this "Small Act, Big Impact," the institution continues to lead the Philippine healthcare sector toward a model of care that is as mindful of the planet as it is of human life.
