COVID-19 Online Screening Tool: Answer on your smartphones or computers within 24 hours prior to your visit to The Medical City.
By The Medical City (TMC), Ortigas | February 17, 2022
As much of Asia begins to emerge from the pandemic, individuals in the region are reminded to take back their health by keeping routine checkups up-to-date and not delaying medical procedures.
“While so much changes especially in the area of healthcare have happened brought about by COVID-19, health institutions such as The Medical City network of hospitals have established a new landscape in how care is delivered but with the same standards and same commitment to the patients,” says Dr. Christian Delos Reyes, Chief Marketing Officer, The Medical City (TMC) Ortigas.
TMC, the largest healthcare network in the Philippines, is composed of one flagship complex in Ortigas, Metro Manila, four provincial hospitals, and over 50 clinics across the country. It has taken its brand into the global arena through the operation of Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC), the first and only private hospital in Guam.
To communicate that TMC hospitals are indeed a safe place for all, TMC Ortigas launched the “TMC One Complex, Two Hospital Systems” in April 2020 and was immediately replicated in all TMC hospitals. The two-in-one hospital system delineated separate areas and pathways – including emergency rooms, diagnostic laboratories, nursing units, and elevators for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 cases.
TMC had to reassure people that it would be safe to visit a hospital to seek treatment for other reasons apart from COVID-19. The TMC leaders saw that if people avoided hospitals when they needed treatment, they would only become part of a second pandemic with illnesses that might have been resolved if treated early.
This was the same reason why TMC remained open for foreign patients throughout the pandemic. The global health crisis may have substantial negative effects on medical tourism but there is still a demand for high-quality, safe, and affordable care in foreign lands.
“Some of our normal activities may have been delayed or canceled because we are still in a pandemic but healthcare should not and should never be compromised. It is crucial that you stay connected with your healthcare provider, and do not delay taking care of your health,” says Dr. Delos Reyes.
For patients in Guam and the Pacific Island, The Medical City Referral Office (TMCRO) provides continuing medical travel assistance for their visit to the Philippines.
“We provide support and facilitate requests from outpatient services to end-to-end inpatient experience from pre- admission to discharge. Patients are assured that local and international guidelines and standards are strictly followed to keep them safe while getting the care that they need,” shares Lawrence Sibayan, AVP for Marketing and Business Development (TMC Ortigas).
“For those who would like to get in touch with our TMC Referral Office staff, you may contact the office at 988-8627,” adds Sibayan.
Sibayan also reminds the public that effective February 1, fully-vaccinated international travelers from countries with visa-free entry to the Philippines and returning overseas Filipinos will no longer be required to undergo facility-based quarantine, but must present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test results. The test should be taken within 48 hours prior to departure from the country of origin. Travelers should also present proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
“This important update plus the services the TMCRO offers make it easier for patients to travel and seek medical care at The Medical City in the Philippines,” says Sibayan.
Back to Health, Back to the City
With this development, TMC launches “Back to Health, Back to the City” promo which entitles interested international patients residing in Guam and the Pacific to discounts as much as 15% for inpatient and outpatient services. Apart from this, they may also avail of a special Executive Check-Up package that includes 3 days and 2 nights stay at any of their chosen participating hotels, and a “Shop- Hop” experience to major shopping malls around the area. This also comes with free-of-charge services such as facial skin analysis, body fat analysis, personalized ECU assistance, pick-up and drop-off, plus free meals.
